Sen. Yaw Comments on Governor’s Massive Tax & Spend Budget Proposal

Governor Tom Wolf this week (February 3) unveiled his proposed $40.2 billion General Fund Budget for Fiscal Year 2021-22, which includes a massive increase in state spending, a substantial personal income tax rate hike, imposition of Marcellus Shale extraction tax, and elimination of funding for broadband expansion as well as vital agricultural and health programs and services, according to state Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23). The Governor’s proposed FY 2021-22 Budget includes a $3.1 billion (8.2 percent) increase in state spending from the current fiscal year.

In a party-line vote, the state Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee, chaired by Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23), today approved sending a letter to the Independent Regulatory Review Commission (IRRC) urging its review of concerns expressed by numerous commentators, including those from organized labor leaders, business leaders and elected officials over the past year who have weighed in against the “CO2 Budget Trading Program,” proposed regulation – #7-559 (IRRC #3274).
