Yaw, Flick: Over $1 Million in Conservation and Recreation Funding Awarded in Lycoming County

HARRISBURG –State Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23) and State Rep. Jamie Flick (R-83) today announced $1,053,100 has been awarded to two projects in Lycoming County by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) through the Community Conservation Partnership Program (C2P2).

“Funding for these projects will undoubtedly benefit our region and have a positive impact on our environment and recreational opportunities,” Yaw said. “I am pleased to see this important investment in Lycoming County.” 

“This funding will help transform Lycoming County and the City of Williamsport by expanding recreational opportunities and improving public spaces,” said Flick. “From the extension of the Susquehanna River Walk to the revitalization of Youngs Woods Park, these projects will create lasting benefits for our communities, enhancing accessibility, recreation and environmental stewardship.”

The following entities received funding:

  • Lycoming County: $649,900 for its Susquehanna River Walk Extension project. Work will include the construction of approximately 1.46 miles of trail, at-grade railroad crossing, stormwater management measures, ADA access and landscaping.
  • Williamsport City: $403,200 for the rehabilitation of Youngs Woods Park. Work will include construction of a pavilion, pedestrian walkways, pickleball court and parking area, installation of play equipment, fencing and lighting and ADA access.

The C2P2 is funded with a variety of state and federal funding sources, including the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund (Key 93), which includes Key-Community and Key-Land Trust; the Environmental Stewardship Fund (ESF); the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF); Pennsylvania Trails Fund (PRT – federal source); Pennsylvania Heritage Area Program (HA); and the ATV Restricted Management Account Fund (ATV).
