HARRISBURG –State Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23) and State Rep. Clint Owlett (R-68) today announced $500,000 has been awarded to Mansfield Borough, Tioga County, for flood mitigation through the state’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP).
“It is critical that we take the needed steps to prevent future flood damage and ensure local governments receive vital funding for infrastructure repairs and improvements,” Yaw said. “I was pleased to work with Rep. Owlett and our local officials to help secure this important funding.”
The funding awarded today will be used to cover construction costs associated with the realignment and installation of a new arch pipe culvert. Other costs include utility relocations and wetland restoration.
“We’ve all seen firsthand, far too many times, the devastating impact of flooding on our lives and livelihoods here in the Northern Tier,” Owlett said. “Whatever we can do to protect against future flooding is a worthwhile investment in our communities. I thank Sen. Yaw and our county officials for helping to make this project happen.”
RACP is administered by the Office of the Budget for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvement projects. RACP projects are authorized in the Redevelopment Assistance section of a Capital Budget Itemization Act. They must have a regional or multi-jurisdictional impact and generate substantial increases or maintain current levels of employment, tax revenues, or other measures of economic activity.
