HARRISBURG –The state Senate recently declared the week of April 20th through April 26th, 2025, “Conservation District Week” in Pennsylvania, according to Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23), who sponsored Senate Resolution 69 along with Sen. Elder Vogel (R-47).
During this week, conservation districts across the state hold events and meet with legislators in their home counties. These volunteer directors and staff address conservation concerns in their community.
“Through leadership, education and planning, our county conservation districts are committed to protecting our natural resources,” said Yaw. “They are the boots on the ground, and they work to develop programs and projects consistent with environmental stewardship. I am proud to extend warm wishes to our county conservation districts and recognize the week of April 20th as ‘Conservation District Week’ in Pennsylvania.”
“We are excited that Sen. Yaw and the PA Senate are celebrating Conservation District Week,” said Amy Brown, acting director for the PA Association of Conservation Districts (PACD). “During Conservation District Week, offices across the state will be celebrating with a variety of activities including sponsoring local Envirothons, seedling sales and much more. All of these events will showcase the projects districts work on every day promoting stewardship of our natural resources.”
PACD serves as the collective voice for Pennsylvania’s 66 county conservation districts. Over the years, the Association has played an integral part in shaping the modern conservation district, as well as providing advocacy, education and training, program coordination and facilitation to districts and their constituents.
The PACD has earned a reputation for effectively tackling new challenges, working directly with private organizations, business and industry partners and many federal and state agencies. Through a statewide network, the PACD leadership supports a multitude of locally led conservation efforts and stands ready to address future issues.
