HARRISBURG –State Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23) and State Rep. Tina Pickett (R-110) today announced $1,650,000 in state funding has been awarded to three Bradford County schools for infrastructure improvements through Pennsylvania’s Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA). The awards were considered at today’s CFA Board meeting and approved through the Authority’s Public School Facility Improvement Grant Program (PSFIG).
“It is critical that we support efforts to improve aging infrastructure in many of our local schools, some of which haven’t seen significant upgrades in decades,” Yaw said. “The funding approved today will be incredibly impactful for these schools. I’m thankful to Rep. Pickett for working with me to secure this funding.”
“Many of our older school buildings have reached a point where extensive renovations are necessary,” Pickett said. “This state funding will assist school districts in that regard and will also make the buildings safer and more efficient while alleviating some of the burden on local property taxpayers. I was happy to work with Sen. Yaw in bringing these grants home.”
The following schools were awarded PSFIG funding:
- Wyalusing Area School District – WASD High School Roof Replacement Project – $1,000,000
- Sayre Area School District – H. Austin Snyder Elementary and Jr./Sr. High School ADA Upgrade Project – $400,000
- Towanda Area School District – J. Andrew Morrow Primary School Roof Repair Project – $250,000
The Public School Facility Improvement Grant Program (PSFIG) provides grants to public school districts and area career and technical schools for eligible facility improvement projects. The Program is administered by the Department of Community and Economic Development under the direction of the CFA.
