Yaw, Owlett Announce Nearly $1 Million in LSA Funding for Westfield Borough

HARRISBURG –State Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23) and State Rep. Clint Owlett (R-68) today announced $981,470 in state funding has been awarded to Westfield Borough in Tioga County for its sewer rehabilitation project. The award was considered at today’s Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) meeting and approved through the Authority’s Local Share Account (LSA) Statewide program.

“The funding approved today is a valuable investment that is good for our citizens and good for our environment,” Sen. Yaw said. “I was pleased to work with Rep. Owlett and our local officials to help make this project a reality.”

“Reliable infrastructure – whether it’s sewer, water, or roads and bridges – is a public health and safety issue, as well as an economic issue,” Owlett said. “This grant is a worthy investment in improving the sewer system in Westfield, and I appreciate the opportunity to work with Sen. Yaw to bring this funding back to our district.”

Funding approved today will be used for the construction, engineering and administrative costs to rehabilitate sanitary sewer lines in the area of North Street, Lincoln Street and Mill Street. The Borough also plans to fix or replace all connecting manholes, making the sewer system more reliable and affordable to maintain.

The PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act (Act 2004-71), as amended, provides for the distribution of gaming revenues through the CFA to support projects in the public interest within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The CFA was established in 2004 as an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development to administer Pennsylvania’s economic stimulus programs.  The CFA reviews and evaluates applications based on cost, strategic importance, and impact.
