Senate Confirms New Ag Secretary
(HARRISBURG) The Pennsylvania State Senate has confirmed Russell Redding as
the next Secretary of Agriculture according to Sen. Gene Yaw, R-Lycoming.
Yaw, a member of the Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee praised
Redding on his experience in the department and his willingness to serve in
these challenging times for our state’s leading industry.
Redding has served as Acting Secretary since September 2009. Prior to that
assignment, Redding was the Executive Deputy Secretary, a position that managed
the day to day operations of the department. Redding has served several
administrations with his public service.
"As a farmer and a graduate of Penn State in Ag Extension, Russ is well
respected among the various farm organizations across the state," Yaw said.
"This support is vital to the success of any Secretary as he works to develop
positive rural and agricultural policy affecting millions of Americans across
the Commonwealth.
"I am looking forward to continuing to work with him on issues that directly
affect many of the constituents in the 23rd District." Yaw said. |
