Senator Yaw Announces Grants to Local Organizations

(WILLIAMSPORT)  Several area businesses and organizations were recently recipients of state grant funding, according to Sen. Gene Yaw, R-Loyalsock.

The Northeast Ben Franklin Partnership located at Lehigh University has announced the following grants to area businesses and organizations:

  • Snake Creek Lasers, Hallstead, Susquehanna County, is receiving $32,050 to develop a new strategic business plan and improve quality control and inventory and order control process for this supplier of miniaturized and cryogenic lasers.
  • Spring Window Fashions, Montgomery, Lycoming County, is receiving $50,000 to reduce manufacturing costs and increase output of Spring’s window blind product line.  This effort will focus on improving efficiency of Spring's slat machines.
  • The Greater Susquehanna KIZ is receiving $40,000 and the Williamsport/Lycoming KIZ will receive $20,000.  These funds will be used to bring early stage technology companies close to colleges and universities as part of the statewide economic development effort.

Finally, DEP has announced that the Bradford County Conservation District will receive $21,450 under the Community Cleanup Grant program.  These funds will be used to clean trash and litter that has been dumped illegally.
